Antoni Vives, que serà tercer tinent d’Alcalde de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona, ha guanyat el premi Crexells amb l’obra “El somni de Farringdon Road”. La cerimònia d’anunci i entrega del premi s’ha celebrat aquest vespre al Jardí Romàntic de l’Ateneu i Vives, entrevistat sobre la tarima pel presentador de l’acte i de TV3 Toni Puntí, s’hi ha mostrat molt emocionat i ha explicat una mica què significa i de què va l’obra:
“És una història d’amor que passa a la guerra i que té diverses derivades: d’amor entre persones que tenen ideals, anglesos i americans que van decidir comprometre’s amb el nostre país. La història és absolutament instrumental, intenta explicar l’ara que està arrelat en el que va passar. No és una novel·la històrica sinó una novel·la que explica què som la meva generació aquí, ara, a Barcelona, l’any 2011 en funció del que va passar”.
“Vol explicar què va passar a nivell humà, el tràngol que va viure la nostra societat. Algú que no havia nascut per agafar cap fusell però que s’hi troba. Una part de la novel·la té l’arrel en una casa del centre de Londres: la Martin Memorial Library. Que per cert, té l’arxiu fotogràfic més important sobre la retirada de les tropes republicanes l’any 1939, és un lloc màgic, però aquest fet curiosament ho vaig descobrir un cop escrita la novel·la!”
L’acte ha estat presidit pel Francesc Cabanes, president de l’Ateneu i ha comptat amb la presència de Xavier Trias. El premi, es concedeix cada any en record de qui va ser l’ il·lustre soci de l’Ateneu Barcelonès Joan Crexells i és escollit per votació dels socis de la institució”.
Al vídeo, Antoni Vives respon a una pregunta picant de Toni Puntí: “Diuen que sembla un llibre no escrit per un convergent”. “Doncs ho sóc de cap a peus!” contesta Vives. Moltes felicitats pel premi!
